The southern reaches of Patagonia have become known to aficionados as one of the most beautiful, unspoiled and remote places in the world. It is the definition of wildness: massive mountain ranges, steppes, ice fields, glaciers, rivers, lakes and snow, with an abundance of unusual wildlife.

Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, occupies a special place in the hearts of Chileans, akin to that occupied by Yosemite for Americans. It has wonderfully diverse areas that let you explore mountain glaciers, walk, take a ship on a glacier lake and simply take in landscapes unlike any others on Earth.

Beneath the granite mountains of the Paine Massif there is a great deal of wildlife: guanacos (relatives of llamas), rheas, Andean condors, pumas, Patagonian foxes and a wide variety of birds.

Our journey offers a unique chance to explore, accompanied by an extraordinary naturalist guide: Claudio Vidal. Claudio is co-author of the definitive field guide to the birds of the region and of many other books, including works on Torres del Paine and on penguins. He is also an outstanding photographer, and a great person who will make sure you enjoy your time in Patagonia.
